The makers of TurboTax were interested in creating a more efficient version of their popular tax preparation software. They were also seeking a version that took advantage of a user's previous knowledge of filling out the standard tax forms. The intended audience for this creation was typically in a simple situation that didn't require the standard 'wizard' offering.
